    Abstract
This research inquiry intended to assess the influence of Monitoring and Evaluation practices on the performance of the community development projects in Kampala Uganda. This study had three objectives namely; to assess the influence of planning on the performance of community development projects among faith-based organizations in Kampala district, to determine whether capacity building affects the performance of community development projects among faith-based organizations in Kampala district, and to examine the influence of the stakeholders’ participation on the performance of community development projects. The theoretical frameworks adopted include; Theory of Change and Empowerment Evaluation Theory. This research used a cross sectional descriptive research design, using a quantitative research methodology because this will allow the researcher to collect and evaluate relevant quantitative data to fulfill the objectives of the study and provide recommendations based on its findings. The research site was Watoto Ministries Uganda, and the research location was Kampala-Mpigi districts, Uganda. The study involved a target population of 710 project staff members from 6 departments which include; Education, Neighbourhood, Medical, Homes Administration, Child Welfare, and Pastoral and Discipleship. A stratified random sampling approach was used and a sample of 20% of the target population, which is 142 respondents, was used for this research. A closed-ended questionnaire was administered both online through smart-survey and hard copy to give participants the flexibility to respond at their convenience time. Authorization and consent was requested from Africa Nazarene University, Uganda National Council for Science and Technology, Watoto Ministries Uganda and all other participants of the study. For data analysis, the researcher used SPSS version 29. The study concluded that planning plays a significant role in enhancing the performance of community development projects. The study also found that capacity building significantly influences the performance of community development projects in Watoto Ministries Uganda, with most respondents reporting a satisfactory impact. The study also established that stakeholder participation significantly influences the performance of community development projects, with most respondents indicating a satisfactory impact. Lastly, the study recommends that organisations should strengthen practical planning mechanisms through regular reviews and updating planning frameworks. They should also always refine capacity building strategies by refining them to the actual skills gaps, and routinely assess and document what works and what doesn’t work during project implementation.
